Legal confidentiality is
upheld whether you are seen in-person or on-line. Nothing discussed with our clients will
be repeated to anyone outside the professional domain. In some instances a practitioner
will consult a clinical colleague for assistance and advice. Please be aware that E-mail
sent from or received at your place of employment is legally owned by your employer.
E-mail cannot be encrypted. Third party interception online is as unlikely as telephone
interception, but precautions are being taken with a private chat environment to ensure
your privacy and protection.
Exceptions to our confidentiality:
1. We are legally responsible to attempt to report any suspicion of child abuse. If
you lead us to believe that you would harm a child or elderly person and although we agree
you need help, we are required by law to make a diligent effort to report it to social
services and/or the police.
2. We
are legally responsible to attempt to report if someone's life is in danger, such as
suicide or homicide.
